The Minns Labor Government has announced $590,000 in funding for minor capital works upgrades at health facilities in the Shoalhaven region. The funding is being allocated to the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) as part of the broader $12 million Regional Health Minor Works Program.
The two-year program aims to support infrastructure upgrades across regional, rural, and remote areas of New South Wales. According to the state government, this initiative complements an $11.9 billion investment in the 2026-27 Budget designated for 32 new or upgraded hospitals, including nearly $3 billion for regional NSW facilities over four years.
Member for South Coast Liza Butler stated that the local funding will target two facilities in Nowra. Planned works include the refurbishment and expansion of clinical spaces at the Shoalhaven Family Care Centre, alongside improvements at the Nowra Community Health Centre designed to optimize existing spaces for multidisciplinary care teams.
Minister for Regional Health and Minister for the Illawarra and the South Coast Ryan Park stated that the program aims to upgrade infrastructure, enhance patient and staff amenities, and improve regional health services.
Member for Kiama Katelin McInerney stated that the investment would help address past shortfalls in regional healthcare facility upgrades and support future community health needs.
