The Minns Labor Government has announced an investment of $6.95 million to support 17 community-led projects across the New England and Northern Tablelands regions of New South Wales. The funding is being delivered through the government's $50 million Active Regional Communities Package, which aims to improve local liveability and community connectivity.
The initiative is funded under the broader $223 million Regional Development Trust Fund, which provides resources for strategic projects intended to support regional industries, communities, and infrastructure.
According to the government, the funded initiatives span community infrastructure, sporting facilities, cultural programs, local events, and youth support services. Key allocations announced include:
- $1,502,087 for Angry Bull Trails Limited to build a covered stage and event pavilion in Tenterfield for festivals, markets, and cycling events.
- $999,968 for the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council to expand the Fresh Footprints operations hub, providing intervention, mentoring, skills training, and transport for at-risk youth alongside community amenity upgrades.
- $364,810 for the North Star Sporting Club in the Gwydir area to improve safety amenities for sports participants.
- $100,000 for the Nowendoc Recreation Reserve Land Manager in Walcha to upgrade kitchen and water infrastructure.
- $71,745 for the Armidale Rams Junior Rugby League Football Club to conduct clubhouse repairs and upgrades.
Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty stated that the funding is targeted at practical, locally driven projects designed to enhance community assets and encourage local participation across regional towns.
