## Story

More than $850,000 has been allocated to the Western NSW Local Health District to fund minor capital works projects across several regional health facilities, the NSW Government announced.

The investment is part of the state's broader two-year, $12 million Regional Health Minor Works Program. The funding will support the installation of rooftop solar systems across Multipurpose Services located in Bourke, Warren, Nyngan, Coonamble, and Molong.

According to the government, the project aims to lower operating expenses while improving energy resilience and efficiency across the five sites. Together, the targeted facilities house 121 residential aged-care beds and 54 acute inpatient beds.

Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park stated that the program focuses on upgrading infrastructure and staff and patient amenities to improve health services in rural and regional areas.

Local representatives also commented on the initiative. Member for Barwon Roy Butler noted that the funding addresses priorities for practical upgrades in smaller and remote communities. Member for Orange Phil Donato welcomed the investment in the Molong Multipurpose Service and other regional facilities, while Labor Spokesperson for Orange and Barwon Stephen Lawrence stated that the transition would lower power bills and allow health funding to be redirected toward patient care.

The initiative is part of broader state investments, which include an $11.9 billion plan under the 2026-27 Budget targeting 32 new or upgraded hospitals, with nearly $3 billion designated for regional NSW hospitals over four years.
