Stage 1 Development Approved for East Lismore Resilient Housing Project
Flood-impacted homeowners in Lismore will receive priority access to purchase land following development approval for Stage 1 of Landcom’s Crawford Road project in East Lismore. The announcement marks the start of the sales process for the first 19 residential lots under the NSW Government’s Resilient Lands Program, with lots expected to be released before the end of 2026.
Participants in the Resilient Homes Program buyback scheme will be given the first opportunity to purchase the vacant lots before remaining land is offered to the broader market. Buyers will be permitted to construct a new freestanding house, build a duplex, or relocate an eligible buyback home onto the land. The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) will invite participants to register with Landcom for project plans, pricing details, and reservation timelines.
Stage 1 spans approximately five hectares on the northern section of the Crawford Road site and is planned to deliver roughly 100 residences. In addition to the initial 19 residential lots, plans include between 70 and 80 terrace homes ranging from one to four bedrooms. Subject to approvals and construction progress, sales for the terrace homes are expected to begin around mid-2027.
The initial stage is part of a larger 72-hectare master-planned development delivered jointly by Landcom and the RA through the $100 million Resilient Lands Program. The NSW Government acquired the broader site from Southern Cross University in 2025. The RA is contributing $15 million toward the land and infrastructure, while Landcom has committed at least $75 million for development.
According to the NSW Government, the broader East Lismore master plan has the potential to yield more than 500 homes alongside new open space. At least 20 percent of all housing across the development will be designated as affordable rental housing.
