Police Make Multiple Arrests in Rundle Mall Operation

Article: A recent police operation focusing on public safety and thefts in Rundle Mall and its surrounding areas has led to six arrests and two reports in just two days. The Eastern District police, supported by Operation Measure and Dog Operations Unit, carried out highly visible foot patrols as part of their proactive approach to policing.

On Monday, around 11:20 am, a 37-year-old Adelaide man was apprehended in Rundle Mall following a PADD dog indication. The man was found in possession of a significant quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and identity cards. He now faces charges including trafficking in a controlled drug and unlawful possession of identity cards.

Later that day, officers on foot patrol arrested a 51-year-old man from Ingle Farm, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. He was charged with deception and breach of bail and has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.

The following day, a 16-year-old boy from Northfield was arrested for theft and carrying a prohibited weapon. The police, alerted by a sports store retail worker, found the boy wearing stolen clothing and in possession of a machete. He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court.

In another incident, a 41-year-old Salisbury Park man was arrested after being observed acting suspiciously with a stolen men’s road bike. He was found in possession of various tools and equipment used to commit offenses. The bike has since been returned to its rightful owner.

Furthermore, a 14-year-old boy from Campbelltown was arrested after police discovered he was allegedly carrying a knife, balaclavas, gloves, and a handbag. He has been charged with carrying an offensive weapon and unlawful possession.

Additional arrests included a 37-year-old Adelaide man found in possession of methamphetamine and a 17-year-old girl from Edwardstown with cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Both individuals were reported and will appear in court at a later date.

The police are urging anyone who witnesses shoplifting, antisocial behavior, or violent incidents to report them immediately on the police assistance line or through Triple Zero in emergencies. The recent arrests made in Rundle Mall demonstrate the commitment of the police in maintaining public safety and combating criminal activities in the area.
