President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently attended the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the National Guard of Ukraine. The event also saw the graduation of officers from the NGU National Academy and the NGU Kyiv Institute. The President took the opportunity to highlight the significance of the National Guard in the fight against Russian aggression and the maintenance of security within Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy praised the bravery and strength of the national guardsmen, emphasizing their participation in battles against Russia. He commended the aerial reconnaissance units for their effectiveness in destroying Russian equipment and enemy soldiers, as well as the sappers for clearing Ukrainian land of Russian mines. The President also acknowledged the National Guard’s role in providing protection and assistance during rescue and recovery operations after Russian strikes.

The President expressed his gratitude to all the soldiers and commanders of the National Guard, stating that he is proud of their service to the Ukrainian people and state. He acknowledged the heroic pages written by the warriors of the National Guard units since 2014, including defending Kharkiv, Kyiv region, and Mariupol. President Zelenskyy assured that the state is working tirelessly to bring back the Azov warriors who are currently in Russian captivity.

Notably, more than nine thousand national guardsmen have received state awards, with 48 of them being conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine. The President personally presented state awards, including the Order of the Golden Star, to Captain Artur Pruhlov and Colonel Dmytro Vlasenko for their exceptional courage and professionalism in combat situations.

In recognition of the high professionalism and combat merits of the personnel, the President conferred honorary titles and presented battle flags to various military units of the National Guard of Ukraine. Notable among these were the 13th Operational Brigade, the Special Forces Center, and the International Interagency Multidisciplinary Training Center.

The President concluded the event by awarding the honorary title of “Kharkiv” to the Eastern Territorial Department of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as the ribbon “For Courage and Valor” to the 1st Presidential Operational Brigade and the 12th Special Forces Brigade.

As Ukraine commemorated the 10th anniversary of the National Guard, President Zelenskyy reiterated the importance of their service in defending the country against Russian aggression and maintaining the security and well-being of the Ukrainian people.
