$6.6 Million in Funding Allocated to Community Projects in ClubGrants Infrastructure Grants Program

Australia, NSW

Article: The Minister for Gaming and Racing, David Harris, has announced that more than $6.6 million in funding will be distributed among 45 community projects in the latest round of the ClubGrants Infrastructure Grants Program. This program, known as ClubGrants Category 3, channels profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into community initiatives, while providing tax concessions to the clubs.

The total funding available through the program for this financial year is $12.5 million, which will support a range of projects, including a women’s shelter, an evacuation center, and an indoor futsal stadium. The grants will cover various sectors, such as sport and recreation facilities, disaster readiness projects, community infrastructure, and arts and culture-related works.

Notable projects receiving funding in this round include the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter, which will utilize the funds to upgrade their gates and security system, ensuring the safety of women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Additionally, eight disaster readiness projects will receive over $900,000 to enhance community resilience during emergencies.

The Government’s ongoing review of the effectiveness of ClubGrants aims to improve integrity and public trust in government grants. This marks the first formal review of the scheme since 2013. The Minister commended all applicants for their high-quality submissions and the dedication they have shown towards their respective projects.
