The Albanese Labor Government is making significant investments in local transport and community infrastructure projects across the Gladstone region. Partnering with Gladstone Regional Council, the government aims to address high-priority projects and improve road safety.

Federal Minister for Local Government, Kristy McBain MP, recently visited Gladstone alongside Mayor, Cr Matt Burnett, to inspect ongoing infrastructure projects. One of the projects funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program is the renewal and replacement of the Apex Park retaining wall, made possible with $450,000 in funding.

Under Phase 4 of the program, the Albanese Government is injecting over $2.5 million into Gladstone Regional Council, building on their total commitment of $7.5 million. This funding will contribute to various infrastructure projects that have a lasting impact on the community.

In addition to the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, completed works funded by the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery program were also inspected during the visit. The government is committed to partnering with councils to deliver local infrastructure projects and improve road safety.

Minister McBain expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the projects, stating, “Thanks to the increased funding from the Albanese Labor Government, councils can progress projects that have a lasting impact in their communities.”

Gladstone Regional Mayor, Cr Matt Burnett, also praised the funding, highlighting the ongoing project at Apex Park, which involves the construction of a new three-tier retaining wall and upgrades to amenities and landscaping. The project is set to be completed before the end of June.

The partnership between the Albanese Labor Government and Gladstone Regional Council demonstrates a commitment to prioritize local infrastructure projects and enhance the overall well-being of the Gladstone community.
