“Arrest Made in Sydney South-West Hit and Run Incident Leaves Man Critically Injured,

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit and run incident in Sydney’s south-west that left a 62-year-old man critically injured. The incident occurred on Monday, 6th May 2024, around 8:30 pm, along The Hume Highway in Liverpool.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find the man lying on the road, where he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and later taken to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition. Following the crash, police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Promote, with the assistance of specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, the 19-year-old man was arrested at Macquarie Fields Police Station about 3.40 pm on Wednesday, 8th May 2024. He was charged with failing to stop after impact and causing grievous bodily harm and was granted conditional bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday, 29th May 2024.

The arrest brings some hope to the victim’s family and the community, who have been left in shock and fear following the incident. The investigation continues as the police work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crash and bring those responsible to justice.
