Calling All Tech-Savvy Students: Join the 7th Premier’s Coding Challenge!

Article: The Queensland Cabinet and Ministerial Directory have announced the launch of the 7th Premier’s Coding Challenge, inviting tech-savvy Year 3-10 students to showcase their skills and creativity. The annual competition aims to foster student interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while encouraging digital innovation in Queensland schools.

With the theme of #digitalinnovationqld, students can participate individually or in pairs by submitting an app, game, or website along with a short video explaining their entry. Winners will have the chance to receive a technology prize from a $15,000 value prize pool and a framed certificate signed by the Premier and the Minister for Education. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 12, 2024.

Premier Steven Miles expressed his enthusiasm for students across Queensland to participate in the Challenge, regardless of their location. He emphasized the power of technology in solving problems and encouraged students to use this opportunity to effect positive change in their schools and communities.

Education Minister Di Farmer highlighted the importance of STEM education and its relevance to future job opportunities. She encouraged students to demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving skills through the competition.

Last year, the Challenge received entries from 424 students representing 114 schools. The competition opened in March and entries close on September 2, giving students six months to develop and submit their projects.
