The Victorian Government continues to prioritize language services in order to better connect communities and support the diverse population of Victoria. Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt has announced four new appointments to the Board of the Victorian Interpreting and Translating Service (VITS) LanguageLoop.

VITS LanguageLoop is responsible for providing important translating services in over 190 languages, including Aboriginal languages. The newly appointed board members are all culturally diverse individuals who speak a language other than English. This diverse representation ensures that the needs of all communities are considered and addressed.

The appointments to the board include Shara Teo, Chief of Staff at the United Workers Union and Deputy Chair of Gippsland Water; Thu-Trang Tran, Commissioner of the Victorian Liquor Commission and former CEO of Volunteering Victoria and Volunteer West; Eugene Arocca, Board member of Melbourne Health and former CEO of Motorsport Australia; and Kushal Shah, Managing Partner of multinational management consulting firm DBS Global.

Professor Kathy Laster AM has been reappointed as Chair, bringing her extensive financial, governance, and community service experience to the role. Noble Tabe has also been reappointed for a second term, while Cr. Joseph Haweil has been promoted to Deputy Chair.

This diverse leadership within VITS LanguageLoop ensures that the organization can effectively serve the multicultural population of Victoria and continue to improve language services for all Victorians.
