Major Ahlem Douzi Receives United Nations Trailblazer Award for Women Justice and Corrections Officers

Major Ahlem Douzi, a justice officer serving with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), is set to receive the prestigious United Nations Trailblazer Award for Women Justice and Corrections Officers. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of women justice and corrections officers deployed to United Nations peace operations and aims to challenge gender stereotypes and barriers by showcasing their achievements.

Major Douzi, a Tunisian Military Officer, has been instrumental in spearheading technical investigations into serious crimes and attacks against civilians and peacekeepers in the Congo. Her expertise in forensic analysis and ballistic has laid the foundation for holding perpetrators accountable. As a woman in a male-dominated field, Major Douzi sees this award as an opportunity to break down gender barriers and inspire other women who aspire to pursue careers in similar professions.

The award ceremony, to be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, will be attended by high-level officials, including Courtenay Rattray, the Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, and Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations.
