A man has been charged after allegedly taking images inside a court and assaulting a person outside a short time later. The man, aged 28, was taken into custody by officers from the Fairfield City Police Area Command following the incidents that occurred on Wednesday, 8th May 2024.

Reports indicate that the man took an image on his mobile phone in a courtroom, which is a violation of the use of recording devices in court premises. After leaving the court on Spencer Street, Fairfield, around 11:40 am, he allegedly spat in the direction of media waiting outside.

The police were quick to respond, and the man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station. He was subsequently charged with using a recording device in court premises and common assault. The accused was refused bail and is set to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Thursday, 9th May 2024. This incident highlights the significance of adhering to courtroom rules and regulations and the consequences of such violations.
