In a significant blow to organised crime in New South Wales, the State Police’s Organised Crime Squad, in collaboration with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, have arrested a 40-year-old man and seized $1.3 million in cash as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering offences.

Strike Force Mactier, established to investigate the illicit activities of organised crime groups across Sydney, led the operation which resulted in the substantial seizure on Tuesday, 7th May 2024. The bust occurred at a service station on the M1 Motorway near Wyong, where detectives located the cash during a routine vehicle stop of a Toyota SUV.

Following the vehicle stop, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Herring Road, Macquarie Park, where they discovered an additional $4700 in cash and evidence of bank accounts holding a further $250,000.

The man was charged with knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime, with detectives alleging that he was involved in a significant money laundering operation in Sydney. He was refused bail and will appear before the Wyong Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Mactier are ongoing as the authorities continue their crackdown on organised crime and money laundering activities across Sydney and the Central Coast.
