Police Arrest Two Teenagers Following Armed Robberies in Melbourne’s South-East
Victoria Police arrested two teenage boys early Saturday morning following a string of alleged armed robberies across Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs overnight.
According to police, a group of armed offenders travelling in a stolen Toyota Prado targeted several businesses across Narre Warren South, Cranbourne, and Berwick on the evening of 2 October. The incidents began around 8:15 p.m. at a liquor store on Cranbourne Road in Narre Warren South, where cash and alcohol were stolen. Shortly after, cash was allegedly taken from a tobacco store located in a Cranbourne shopping centre on Thompsons Road.
Police stated that at approximately 9:46 p.m., the offenders stole more than $8,000 in cash and assaulted a staff member at a fast-food outlet on Kangan Drive in Berwick. Later in the evening, the group allegedly attempted to rob a liquor store on O’Shea Road before carrying out an armed robbery and stealing cash from another liquor store on Camms Road in Cranbourne around 11:46 p.m.
Officers spotted the Toyota Prado—which had been reported stolen from Bentleigh East on 19 September—on Narre Warren Road in Cranbourne at around 4:12 a.m. Following a pursuit during which stop sticks were deployed, the vehicle came to a halt on the Monash Freeway.
Three males fled the vehicle on foot. With the assistance of the Dog Squad, officers arrested two of the suspects from the Casey area. A 17-year-old boy was transported to the hospital for treatment of a dog bite, while a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody for questioning.
Investigators are continuing their search for the third suspect and working to determine if other individuals were involved. Victoria Police has asked anyone with information, dashcam footage, or other recordings to contact Crime Stoppers.
