Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment Reaches Construction Milestone and Confirms CT Scanner
Construction on the $138 million Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment has reached its highest point, marked by a 'topping out' event attended by Member for Cessnock Clayton Barr, health staff, and project workers.
The project, funded by the NSW Government, includes the construction of a new two-storey acute services building intended to accommodate the healthcare needs of the local area, including integrated care services for older residents. Full construction of the redevelopment is scheduled for completion in 2027.
As part of the facility upgrades, a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner will be installed at Cessnock Hospital. The expanded medical imaging services will encompass CT, ultrasound, and X-ray capabilities. According to the government, the on-site CT scanner is projected to prevent approximately 100 patient transfers to outside facilities each year.
The redevelopment project is estimated to support around 250 direct jobs during its construction, in addition to supporting indirect employment across the region.
