Police Charge Man Following Armed Robbery at Springwood Fast-Food Restaurant
Queensland Police have charged a 34-year-old man following the armed robbery of a fast-food restaurant in Springwood on the night of 27 September.
According to police, a man with a covered face entered the restaurant on Springwood Road just before midnight and threatened a 24-year-old male employee with a knife while demanding cash from the register.
The offender then fled the scene on foot along North Rochedale Road carrying the stolen money. Patrolling officers intercepted and arrested the man on North Rochedale Road shortly after.
Police allege that the suspect attempted to discard the cash and his face-covering when he saw the officers, though both items were quickly recovered nearby. No physical injuries were reported during the incident.
The 34-year-old Norman Park resident has been charged with one count of armed robbery. He is scheduled to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 28 September.
