According to a WFP country brief, the agency assisted 35,711 people during August, 51 percent of whom were female. The relief efforts included the distribution of 278.160 metric tons of food and the transfer of USD 254,924 in cash assistance.
The agency stated that its ground teams have ensured continuous aid to the most vulnerable refugees living in settlements despite ongoing regional tensions. In addition to standard support, WFP concluded a first round of emergency cash assistance that reached 1,713 affected Iranians.
WFP noted that it is holding consultations with the Iranian government to discuss options for scaling up operations. The organization stated it requires USD 22.4 million to support its operations in Iran over the six-month period from September 2026 to February 2027.
