## Story

One month after devastating flash floods struck Nepal, thousands of children continue to lack reliable access to clean water as damaged infrastructure hampers recovery efforts across affected areas, according to a report from Plan International Nepal.

The flooding, which entered Nepal through the Bhote Koshi River on August 26, resulted in 1,451 confirmed deaths, while 5,745 people remain missing. Although 13,784 individuals were successfully rescued, affected communities are dealing with widespread displacement and disrupted services due to damaged water pipes, roads, and bridges.

According to the humanitarian organization, restoring water supply systems is among the most urgent priorities. Many displaced children remain unable to return to school and face disruptions to essential services and family livelihoods.

Damaged transport links have complicated relief efforts, leaving some of the worst-affected communities difficult to access by land. Aid workers have utilized airlifts and drone-assisted logistics to deliver essential supplies to hard-to-reach areas, including Aamachhodingmo.

Over the past month, Plan International Nepal reported reaching 11,580 people across northern Nepal, including 3,838 children and girls. The organization's response includes working alongside local authorities and partners to repair water systems, distributing generators and hygiene supplies, setting up child-friendly spaces for psychosocial support, and delivering multipurpose cash assistance to 175 families to help cover immediate needs and education costs.
