## Story

NSW Ambulance has welcomed a new cohort of 18 paramedics recruited from interstate and overseas to support frontline services across metropolitan and regional New South Wales, the agency announced.

The latest intake features qualified personnel from New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and various Australian states and territories. According to NSW Ambulance, approximately 150 qualified paramedics from outside the state have joined the organization since March 2023.

The 18 paramedics have finished an induction program at the NSW Ambulance Education Centre and are scheduled to commence operational familiarisation.

Among the new recruits is Mitchell Pani, who previously worked for the London Ambulance Service and as a paramedic in Mexico. Pani stated that he was inspired to enter the profession following a friend's diving accident and is returning to work closer to family.

NSW Minister for Health Ryan Park stated that recruiting interstate and overseas personnel is part of efforts to rebuild essential health services and strengthen the frontline workforce.

NSW Ambulance Chief Executive Clare Beech stated that recruiting qualified personnel from outside New South Wales aims to provide communities with experienced clinical care while incorporating broader global clinical perspectives into the workforce.
