Police Apprehend Car Thief near Golf Course, Return Stolen Vehicle to Owner

Article: An alleged car thief was apprehended by the police near a golf course in Seaton yesterday afternoon. The incident took place around 4 pm on Friday, April 26, when a woman returned home from walking her dog and noticed her car being stolen from her Clark Terrace residence. The thief had also broken into her home, stealing her car keys and wallet, which contained an AirTag.

Fortunately, the victim was able to track her car’s location and promptly informed the police about its whereabouts. Multiple patrols, deployed for the nearby Liv Golf event, actively assisted in the search. The stolen Subaru Forester was eventually spotted on Tapleys Hill Road, just before 5 pm.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the police called for assistance from PolAir, a helicopter unit. PolAir successfully located the stolen vehicle abandoned in Lark Avenue, only a few minutes after its initial sighting. The police patrols swiftly arrived at the scene and engaged in a pursuit of the suspect, who was seen jumping over fences in the area.

The suspect, identified as a 24-year-old man from Enfield, was apprehended by the authorities. He has been charged with serious criminal trespass, illegal use, driving unlicensed, unlawful possession, and theft. Due to the seriousness of the charges, he has been denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Fortunately, the stolen car was recovered promptly and returned to its rightful owner. The victim’s alertness and cooperation with the police played a crucial role in the successful resolution of the case.
