Queensland Government Seeks Public Feedback on Crocodile Management Plan

The plan, which aims to ensure the safety of the community while preserving the conservation of crocodiles, has undergone revisions to address the changing needs and expectations of the public. The new plan includes updates to the existing crocodile management zones, providing specific information about the risks and management responses for each zone. Additionally, the plan introduces proactive trials of hazing in the Fitzroy River to change crocodile behavior and drive them away from populated areas. A new research project in the Proserpine River will also be initiated to enhance understanding of crocodile movements in the region. The number of crocodile management zones will be reduced from six to four, and certain areas will be re-zoned for better management. The Queensland Government is committed to ensuring the plan remains responsive to the community’s needs and will analyze the public feedback received before finalizing and implementing the plan later this year.
