Remains of Missing Man from 2018 Identified on South Coast

Australia, Crime and Police, NSW

A man reported missing in the Eden area in 2018 has been identified as the remains discovered in Beowa National Park near Eden earlier this year. The gruesome finding was made by a contractor around 2:30 PM on February 27, 2024, who immediately contacted the police. Officers from the South Coast Police District attended the scene, established a crime scene, and seized the remains for a forensic examination to aid in identification.

After extensive inquiries, the South Coast Police District has now confirmed that the remains belong to the missing man from 2018. Although the remains were found in a national park, the death is not being treated as suspicious, and the police have not disclosed any further details about the case or the identity of the deceased.

The confirmation of the man’s identity brings closure to his family and friends, who have been waiting for answers for six long years. This case also highlights the critical work of the South Coast Police District and forensic experts in identifying human remains and bringing closure to families affected by tragedies such as this one.
