Second Suspect Charged in Wentworthville Gym Public Place Shooting,

A second man has been charged with intent to murder in connection to a public place shooting outside a Wentworthville gym in February, according to the New South Wales police. Raptor Squad officers have arrested a 20-year-old man at a home in Campsie, following extensive inquiries under Strike Force Berallier.

The shooting incident occurred on Tuesday, 20 February 2024, around 7.45 pm, on Wentworth Avenue, Wentworthville. Emergency services responded to reports of shots fired into a business, but there were no reports of injuries. Shortly after, a white scooter was found well alight on Fulton Avenue, Wentworthville, which was seized for forensic examination.

The 20-year-old man was charged with 10 offenses, including shoot with intent to murder, discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, fire firearm in or near public place, and possess unauthorized pistol. Police will allege in court that the man was disguised as a delivery driver before shooting at the gym.

Previously, a 19-year-old man was charged for his alleged role in the shooting and remains before the courts. The investigation under Strike Force Berallier continues, and anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
