South Australia’s Generations in Jazz Festival to Receive Major Infrastructure Boost,

Australia, SA

Article: The Generations in Jazz festival, held annually in Mount Gambier on the picturesque Limestone Coast of South Australia, is set to receive a significant infrastructure boost from the Malinauskas Government. Premier Peter Malinauskas announced that the State Government will provide $720,000 for the construction of four permanent structured pavilions on a parcel of land owned by Generations in Jazz at OB Flat.

The construction of these pavilions will not only enhance the festival experience but also deliver substantial savings to event organizers, estimated at around $100,000 per event. Furthermore, during the periods when the pavilions are not required for the festival, they can be repurposed as storage facilities for caravans, motorhomes, and boats.

This investment in event infrastructure is expected to generate additional revenue for Generations in Jazz, with projected savings and storage income amounting to $150,000 annually. This revenue will be reinvested in the festival to support greater participation of schools from interstate.

Generations in Jazz, which has been running since 1987, is renowned as one of the world’s best school-based music events. It provides a platform for young jazz performers to compete, collaborate, learn, and engage with jazz enthusiasts. The festival also attracts renowned jazz musicians, fostering the development of the next generation and nurturing an appreciation for this art form in new audiences.

Premier Peter Malinauskas expressed his support for the event, highlighting its role in bringing together young musicians and promoting connections and relationships within the jazz community. Additionally, Member for Mount Gambier Troy Bell emphasized the economic benefits of the festival, as it attracts thousands of visitors to the region each May.

The investment in improved infrastructure signifies a commitment to the growth and long-term sustainability of Generations in Jazz.
