The Victorian Government is making a significant investment in the state’s sports, arts, and entertainment sectors in the upcoming Victorian Budget 2024/25. With a budget of over $318.6 million, the government aims to maintain Victoria’s reputation as Australia’s home of sport and entertainment.

The funding will support Victoria’s world-class cultural institutions with a package of $128.4 million. Additionally, the Melbourne Arts Transformation Project will receive a $1.7 billion investment, further enhancing the state’s arts precincts.

Iconic sporting centers like Kardinia Park, Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, and the Victorian Institute of Sport will be backed with $90.4 million to continue serving hundreds of thousands of Victorians annually.

The budget also prepares for the opening of the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre in 2026, a significant addition to the city’s events space. Sporting clubs will receive $17.5 million to improve facilities and support local clubs, players, and fans.

Families will benefit from a $6 million investment in the Get Active Kids Vouchers program, making it easier for children to participate in local sports.

Victoria’s major events calendar will continue to shine with the support of a $32.5 million investment in Visit Victoria. The state will also invest $9.4 million in hosting business events and driving business communities to Victoria.

The budget allocates $3.3 million to promote regional communities and attract more tourists. Furthermore, $6.5 million will be dedicated to supporting homegrown events and festivals, ensuring their continued success.

The Victorian Screen Rebate program will receive $5 million, attracting games, visual effects, film, and television production projects to the state. This investment will create job opportunities and support the local creative industry.
