Australia, NSW

Article:

The Central Coast community is set to benefit from improved end-of-life care with the unveiling of Wyong Hospital’s new Palliative Care Unit. Minister for Health, Ryan Park, announced that the facility is being developed as part of the NSW Government’s World Class End of Life Care program, which has allocated $93 million for capital investment in palliative care services across the state.

The new unit at Wyong Hospital will feature 12 bedrooms with ensuites, communal areas, meeting spaces, and flexible outdoor spaces. Designed to offer privacy and comfort, it will provide dedicated care and support to patients and their families during what can be an immensely challenging time.

Minister for the Central Coast, David Harris, expressed his gratitude to the community for their advocacy in bringing this project to fruition. He highlighted that the remodelled space will not only prioritize patient privacy but also grant access to parking and other clinical services.

The schematic design for the new facility has been completed after extensive consultation with healthcare professionals, carers, and community members, ensuring that the Central Coast community receives the best possible end-of-life care.

While construction timeframes will be finalized in the detailed design phase, the NSW Government’s investment in the World Class End of Life Care program will facilitate the development of new or enhanced palliative care facilities in various locations across the state, including Nepean, Orange, Tamworth, and Westmead.
