The NSW Government has announced the establishment of a new Integrated Health Hub in the Campbelltown central business district as part of a $35 million healthcare investment in South Western Sydney. The initiative aims to provide local residents with centralized non-acute healthcare services and alleviate pressure on nearby major hospitals.
According to the government, the facility is designed to offer primary care, preventative care, chronic disease management, and early intervention services. By centralizing these non-acute services, officials anticipate the hub will reduce demand on Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals, allowing those facilities to focus on higher acuity and more complex patient needs.
The Campbelltown site is one of two Integrated Health Hubs planned for the Macarthur region, with a second location slated for Wilton. The government stated that site selection criteria will include proximity to commercial areas, retail centers, public transport, and parking to improve accessibility for local communities.
Funding for the project is allocated from the government's 2026–27 budget commitment of $10.3 billion designated for healthcare staffing, services, and hospital infrastructure. This sits alongside an $11.9 billion program intended to expand and upgrade 32 health facilities across New South Wales, including new facilities at Bankstown and Rouse Hill.
Additional broader system measures highlighted in the announcement include expanded virtual and urgent care, increased support for geriatric outreach and Hospital in the Home, and expanded scopes of practice for both general practitioners diagnosing and treating ADHD and pharmacists treating selected minor ailments and managing certain prescriptions.
