Queanbeyan Hospital Secures Over $810,000 for Solar and Infrastructure Upgrades
The Minns Labor Government has announced more than $810,000 in funding for minor capital works at Queanbeyan Hospital to support facility upgrades for the Queanbeyan-Palerang community.
Allocated to the Southern NSW Local Health District, the funding is part of the government's two-year, $12 million Regional Health Minor Works Program. The broader initiative aims to support infrastructure improvements across regional, rural, and remote New South Wales.
The investment at Queanbeyan Hospital and Health Service will specifically fund the installation of a roof-mounted solar system. The project is intended to lower reliance on grid electricity, reduce energy operating costs, and assist in meeting emissions reduction targets.
Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park stated that the minor works program will provide necessary infrastructure upgrades and enhance staff and patient amenities across the state.
Member for Monaro Steve Whan noted that the solar installation will help manage the high energy expenses associated with running the hospital while supporting the community's environmental priorities.
According to the NSW Government, the project contributes to its broader $11.9 billion commitment to deliver 32 new or upgraded hospitals under the 2026-27 Budget, which allocates nearly $3 billion over four years specifically for regional NSW facilities.
