A Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) volunteer was killed on Oct. 13, 2026, in Sudan's southeastern Blue Nile State, according to a statement by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The volunteer, identified as 33-year-old Baderaldain Omer Musa Ibrahim, was working at a health center in the Um Darfa area providing first aid following a reported shelling incident when he was killed. Ibrahim had served with the SRCS Emergency Action Team in Blue Nile State for six years.
The IFRC condemned the incident, emphasizing that attacks on humanitarian personnel are unacceptable. The organization reiterated its call for all parties to respect and protect humanitarian workers and volunteers, ensuring they can carry out life-saving tasks safely.
According to figures from the SRCS, 25 Sudanese Red Crescent volunteers have lost their lives in the line of duty since the conflict in Sudan began on April 15, 2023.
