Queensland Police have released footage of a male as part of an investigation into the dangerous operation of an electric motorbike in Miami on October 8, which left an 82-year-old cyclist hospitalised with back injuries.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. along the Paradise Avenue footpath towards Pizzey Park. The 82-year-old man had dismounted his bicycle on a narrow footbridge to let a woman pushing a pram pass when a male rider on an electric motorbike rode past at speed.

When the elderly cyclist told the rider to slow down, the male stopped, verbally abused him, and then accelerated directly toward him, colliding with the cyclist. The impact caused the man to fall to the ground and injure his back.

The rider fled the scene on the electric motorbike, heading east along Paradise Avenue.

Police stated that the 82-year-old victim suffered a fractured vertebra and spent more than two weeks receiving treatment at Robina Hospital.

Detectives are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the male, urging anyone who recognizes the individual, his clothing, the e-motorbike, or his helmet from the released footage to contact authorities as investigations continue.
