The closing ceremony for the third specialized training workshop on the use of personal protective equipment and safety measures during chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents has concluded in Iran. The program was organized across three sessions—the first in Khordad, followed by two sessions running from Mehr 12–16 and Mehr 19–23—bringing together a total of 150 rapid response team members from various Iranian provinces to enhance their operational readiness.
During the closing event, participants and instructors reviewed the achievements of the program, assessing key strengths and identifying areas for future development. Attendees highlighted the distinct practical value of the training compared to previous drills and noted the importance of ongoing exercises, province-level training sessions, and the provision of necessary equipment. Instructors commended the participants' performance in practical simulation drills, particularly their execution of decontamination procedures tailored to specific types of contamination.
Maricela Silva Chau, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Iran, spoke at the event, stating that the workshop demonstrated close cooperation between the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and the ICRC. She noted that the initiative combined the IRCS's operational experience, academic expertise, and technical and equipment support from the ICRC, and expressed readiness to support similar provincial-level courses.
Dr. Roozbeh Rajaei, Deputy for Education, Research, and Technology at the IRCS, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the involvement of specialists from various organizations and academic institutions. He emphasized the continuation of educational initiatives, the implementation of train-the-trainer courses, and plans to organize a dedicated training course for women.
