A 20-year-old man from Tiaro was taken into custody on 20 October following an alleged series of dangerous driving incidents across Queensland's South Burnett region.

According to Queensland Police, officers received multiple reports around 3:45 p.m. regarding a grey Holden Commodore sedan being driven dangerously on Lamb Street in Murgon and Haly Street in Wondai. The driver allegedly forced another vehicle off the road and navigated the wrong way through a roundabout before heading toward Kingaroy.

Police reported that officers from Kingaroy Station attempted to intercept the vehicle on Youngman Street. The driver allegedly manoeuvred between vehicles stopped at a red light, struck another car, ran multiple red lights, and drove on the incorrect side of the road while continuing south at high speed.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on the Bunya Highway at Benair involving the Holden Commodore and a Toyota Hilux. Police stated the driver fled the scene on foot into nearby bushland but was tracked and arrested near the intersection of Benair Road and the Bunya Highway.

A 16-year-old female passenger in the Holden was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old Benair man, sustained no physical injuries.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with ten offences, including four counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, alongside charges of evading police, driving without a licence, operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, failing to wear a seatbelt, and failing to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on 10 November.

Queensland Police are appealing for witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the early-2000s grey Holden Commodore—which featured white stickers on the front and rear windows—travelling between Tiaro and Kingaroy between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on 20 October. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
