Construction Finishes on Stage 2 Building of Nepean Hospital Redevelopment
Construction on the new Stage 2 building at Nepean Hospital has officially finished as of October 2026, marking a milestone in the broader project valued at more than $1 billion across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
The newly completed seven-storey facility connects with the existing 14-storey hospital building and includes a new main entrance and reception area within a light-filled atrium. The facility houses an adult intensive care unit, a paediatric ward, medical and molecular imaging services, renal dialysis, education and training spaces, clinical support services, and a new transit lounge intended to assist with patient admissions and discharges.
With construction concluded, the facility has moved into an operational commissioning phase to prepare clinical spaces and staff before welcoming patients. Ahead of the official opening, the health district has scheduled a public open day on October 24, 2026, offering registered community members guided tours of the new spaces.
Project leaders, including Senior Project Director Adrian Timp and Acting Director of Planning, Redevelopment and Strategic Office Paul Isaac, acknowledged the milestone as the culmination of planning and construction efforts spanning roughly a decade.
In addition to the hospital tower, Stage 2 of the broader redevelopment encompasses a new Lemongrove Community Health Centre at the existing Lemongrove campus on Gascoigne Street in Penrith. Planning and design for the community health facility remain underway, with community consultation activities planned to begin in the new year.
