A 41-year-old Western Australian man appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on 22 September 2026 after being charged with multiple offences, including allegedly endangering an aircraft and disorderly behaviour during a flight to Perth.

According to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), officers at Perth Airport were called to meet an incoming flight from Karratha on 21 September 2026 following an airline's request for assistance.

Police alleged that the man verbally abused another passenger, pushed and kicked the seat ahead of him, and directed abuse at cabin crew members who attempted to intervene. Authorities also alleged that the man refused crew instructions to fasten his seatbelt ahead of landing and attempted to open the forward passenger door while the aircraft was in flight.

Upon landing at Perth Airport, AFP officers escorted the man from the aircraft. The AFP stated that the passenger became aggressive toward officers and failed to comply with their directions, prompting police to restrain him.

The man has been charged with:
– One count of causing harm to a Commonwealth public official, contrary to section 147.1 of the Criminal Code (Cth), which carries a maximum penalty of 13 years' imprisonment;
– One count of an act endangering the safety of an aircraft, contrary to section 22 of the Crimes (Aviation) Act 1991 (Cth), carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment;
– One count of not complying with crew instructions, contrary to regulation 91.580 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (Cth), which carries a maximum fine of $18,200; and
– One count of disorderly behaviour, contrary to section 74A of the Criminal Code Act Compilation Act 1913 (WA), carrying a maximum fine of $6,000.

The man was granted bail and is scheduled to return to the Perth Magistrates Court on 27 November 2026.
